The Technology behind Primus Fuel Efficiency
Conventional camp stoves have an efficiency rate of 40% — more than half of the energy is wasted! In response, we designed the PrimeTech Stove System to achieve an efficiency rate close to 80 percent.

By combining three technologies: (1) a built-in heat exchanger in the pot, (2) an integrated windscreen that protects the flame, and (3) a burner optimized for the PrimeTech Pot, we achieved nearly double the efficiency of a normal camp stove. This increased efficiency means a 100g Primus gas canister is sufficient to cook every lunch and dinner, brew breakfast coffee (or tea), and still have enough fuel for afternoon fika* for one person during a five-day trip! Carry half fuel, produce half emissions.
*fika is a Swedish coffee break

CONVENTIONAL STOVE:
The yellow/red parts show areas where heat goes up past the sides of the pot rather than going in to the pot.
PRIMETECH STOVE:
The yellow/red area is greatly reduced and this focused heat goes directly into the pot, while the blue shows how little heat is lost going up the sides.
