Find Out Why Outside Magazine and Wired Say This is the Best New Camping Grill

Posted on May 02, 2018

Camp cooking is always the fun part once you get settled back at your site after a long hike. You get to kick off your hiking boots, gather around the fire, and start whipping up some camp grub. Here at Primus, we have plenty of camp stoves, backpacking stoves, and openfire pits to make recipes of your wildest dreams. Now, we’ve added a grill so your days of cooking on the campsite grates can be over.

We might be bias, but our new Kuchoma grill is perfect for your next camping trip. It’s light and compact which makes it easy to pack in the car, and set up at the campsite. Though that might be secondary to its cooking abilities.

The Kuchoma features a domed steel hood that seals in the heat to cook food 'indirectly' when closed. So those burgers you might burn easily over the fire? Not anymore. This means your food cooks evenly through, and not just on the outside. Direct heat is also an option to attain that flavorful char on meat or veggies.

One of the more tedious tasks of camp life can be cleaning duty. We’re always looking for ways to skimp on the dirty. The grill grate of the Kuchoma is easy to clean with its non- stick surface and removable drip tray. Now, bringing a grill to the campout doesn’t have to mean more work.

Catch What People are Saying

Obviously, we like it, but don’t just trust us, see what gear junkies had to say about the Kuchoma grill:

"What makes this [grill] really sweet is that it's super small... It packs into a size that can fit into just about any vehicle super easily, and it's also really sleek looking... It'll look just as good on your balcony of your apartment as it will in the desert or the back of your truck," Ariella Gintzler in Outside Magazine.

“I want to be the kind of person who goes car camping and produces miraculous cinnamon buns and savory peanut satay skewers for everyone's delectation...If anything could help me, the portable, and beautiful Primus Kuchoma grill—made from stainless steel, oak, and brass—could," Adrienne So in Wired.
"...Both charcoal and gas grills can be large and awkward to store in a car... That's why Primus gives you the grill without the bulk...  The non-stick grill top, direct and indirect heating options, and hinged lid further expand your cooking options," C.C. Weiss in New Atlas.

The Nitty-Gritty

Here are the nitty-gritty details of the Kuchoma grill:

- Weight: 9.0 lbs
- Dimensions: 17.6" x 12" x 6.1"
- Output: 8500 BTU/h—which means it takes about 20 minutes to cook a piece of chicken

This grill will be the perfect addition to your camp cooking skills. It’s available for order now.
